Q:  How long is the course? 
A:  The duration of the course is 4 months: 2 months at the Peermont Hotel School and 2 months practical at Emperors Palace.


Q:  How much does it cost and what does it include?
A:  It is a fully funded Skills Programme sponsored by the Peermont Community Benefit Trust.  It includes all your training material, a uniform, all your equipment needed for training purposes, and a meal a day while at the school.


Q:  How do I apply?
A:  Go onto the homepage and click on the “Apply now” icon.  Alternatively click here to download the application form. 


Q:  How do I submit my application?

Q:  I only have Grade 10, can I apply?
A:  No, unfortunately not. You need a matric certificate and have passed English with 50% to be able to apply.


Q:  Can I apply if I am not a South African citizen? 
A:  No – applicants have to be South African citizens to apply.


Q:  When is the closing date for applications? 
A:  There is no closing date. We do a new intake of students every 8 weeks, applications remain open throughout the year. 


Q:  What is the process once I have submitted my application? 
A:  As soon as we have received your application with all the required documents, the following will procedure is followed:  

• Phase 1 – Review of your application to ensure you meet the selection criteria. 

• Phase 2 – If all criteria is met, you will be invited to join a group interview selection process

• If successful through both phases you will be accepted into the school.  

• Start date subject to the school’s management confirmation (not all applicants attending selection days together will necessarily start at the school on the same dates).


Q:  How will I know if my application is unsuccessful? 
A:  You will be contacted via SMS if unsuccessful in your application.


Q:  Can I do more than one of your courses on offer?
A:  No, you may only choose one of the courses on offer.


Q:  Can I change from one programme to another?
A:  No - once you have been selected it is for a specific course, you cannot change during the training.  


Q:  What qualification will I receive? 
A:  Once the course is completed successfully you will receive a CATHSSETA Skills program statement of results in:

• Assistant Chef 

• Table Attendant

• Room Attendant  


Q: Do I have to be an Ekurhuleni resident?
A:  Yes, you have to have lived in Ekurhuleni for at least a year and also attended high school in Ekurhuleni.  


Q: Is there a guarantee of employment? 
A: No, this course provides the necessary skills to self-market yourself after you graduate from the school.   

Q: If I have been blacklisted, do I still qualify to apply?
A: No, unfortunately not.
